Lymphoedema Surgery
Specialist care for long-term relief and improved quality of life.
At Charles Loh Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, we offer advanced surgical solutions for lymphoedema—aimed at reducing swelling, restoring function, reduces the risks of recurrent cellulitis, and improving daily comfort. Lymphoedema can be life-altering, but with the right approach, patients can experience lasting relief.
Lymphoedema is a chronic condition caused by a failure in the lymphatic system, leading to swelling—usually in the arms or legs. It may occur following cancer treatment, infection, surgery, trauma, or may be inherited (primary lymphoedema).
Surgical intervention is often considered when conservative treatments such as compression therapy and manual drainage provide limited benefit.
Our Lymphoedema Treatments
We offer the following surgical options:
- Lymphatic-Venous Anastomosis - (LVA) A supermicrosurgical procedure that connects lymphatic vessels directly to veins, allowing fluid to bypass blockages and reduce swelling.
- Liposuction for Lymphoedema - Ideal for advanced cases with fatty tissue overgrowth. Liposuction removes excess tissue to improve contour and mobility.
- Lymph Node Transfer (on case-by-case basis) - Transfer of lymph nodes from one part of the body to another to help restore drainage.
- Indocyanine green (ICG) imaging test of lymphatic system to look for intact lymphatic vessels.
All procedures are carefully selected and tailored based on the stage and type of lymphoedema, as well as your overall health and treatment goals.
